Toad

Yesterday, we went out to water the hanging baskets and discovered Mr. Toad. We at first thought he was a frog until we did our research. The girly girls took some coaxing to touch his bumpy skin but they did and they liked it. Zoe said oh thats not yucky! It felt rather like sand paper and Kendra said it looks like he has a bunch of clogged pores. We then came inside and read a story about Frogs. I printed out some coloring pages for the littles and Kendra and I put together a "look inside a frog" kit. That I have had on the shelf for awhile unused. It is a plastic frog that shows the muscles and skeleton and some internal organs. Kinda cool. We also read the enclosed booklet to discover our frog was really a toad. and what they eat besides flies, etc. Learning about life by a pond tied right in with the science Kendra is learning about with one celled organisms etc..................It is so cool when one simple thing ties in to everyone learning something. Including me. It is hard to do that sometimes with the age range of my kiddos. it is usually too water downed or Kendri or too hard for the littles.. But today was cool and it all started out with discovering a frog. Thanks God.
